About This Blog

Welcome to The Daily Eightfold Path!

I started this blog to document my journey for self-improvement, so that I may master my opportunities, fears, and doubts, as I work to achieve my goals, both personal and professional.

As a long-time Buddhist, in the lay-practitioner, or secular tradition, I have decided to study how I may practice the Noble Eightfold Path on a daily basis on my quest towards personal development.

The steps of The Noble Eightfold Path always seemed daunting to me… especially with Right Thought, and Right Speech being at the top of the list! You don’t even want to know some of the weird thoughts that pass through my head half of the time! Never mind the gutter-mouth vocabulary that comes spewing from my mouth!!

With Right Understanding, Thought, and Speech being at the top of the list, I am doomed to fail, just as I start!!

But, as I was reading the works of Napoleon Hill, and Earl Nightingale, and learning about neuro-linguistic programing, ideas such as “thoughts are things,” creative visualization, and speaking your ideas into existence, put those first three steps of the Noble Eightfold Path into perspective for me. While I always saw Buddhism as a very user-friendly religion, this newfound point of view finally showed me that the Noble Eightfold Path can be a practical, daily application.

Now, I do not claim to be an expert by any means. I am just a person who wants to live fully, and ethically. What I document here on this blog is my journey, and I hope that you may glean something from it.

On this blog, you will find articles, my favorite books, videos, and podcasts that have helped inspire me on my journey.

I strive to learn something from everyone I meet, so please feel free to leave comments, and share your ideas, experiences, or suggestions.

Thanks for reading,

Paul
